You’re Fired – NOT!!
Apr 20, 2011
There’s been a lot of speculation lately about whether Donald Trump will run for President in 2012. I don’t know whether he will or not. And I don’t know whether I’d vote for him if he does. But I do know this: he should absolutely run.
This country is in horrible shape, and it has been for a long time. People were confident when they elected President Obama that he was going to turn things around – but that hasn’t happened. The American people are sick of politics and politicians. They are desperate for a drastic departure from the norm. And who better to do that than someone other than a typical politician??
This country should be run like a business…by successful businessmen and businesswomen. We need people that have a proven track record of success in the private sector running our government at a local and national level. That’s what the Founding Fathers envisioned – private citizens that would donate their time to the service of public office, and then go back to their real jobs.
Trump isn’t a politician – he is a businessman. The only reason he is considering a run for the White House is because he doesn’t see anyone else out there that he thinks could do a better job of leading our country out of this mess. I admire someone that’s willing to step up to the plate when it’s do or die time!!
Many people out there are attacking Trump from every angle they can come up with. Some are saying he’s nothing more than a joke. Others are saying that he will never run because he isn’t willing to file the required financial disclosure form. This has been a longstanding source of controversy for Trump – he actually sued the author of a book in 2006 for claiming his net worth was lower than public estimates. And still other people are saying that he should be considered a failure because of the setbacks he’s had in his career. Yes, he’s had failures along the way. But he persevered, rose above them, and was rewarded with greater success. He is a better businessman today because of those failures. And he is more relatable to the American people because of those failures.
Trump isn’t taking these criticisms lying down. In a recent interview, he said that he’s the last person President Obama wants to run against. He’s probably 100% correct. Trump is everything Obama – and most other politicians – aren’t. Trump isn’t politically correct, and he doesn’t play political games. Obama may have gotten elected the first time because he always knew what to say, but I’d like to see how successful his empty promises are if he runs against a non-politician like Trump.
Trump is currently winning in the polls against the other Republican candidates. And even though it’s early, that still speaks volumes. It means he has the attention of the American people. It means we like the idea of someone new running for President. It means we are tired of the same old ‘business as usual’ in Washington.
I know one thing for sure: I’ll be listening closely between now and June for Trump’s announcement.

There is no denying that Mr. trump has enjoyed a substantial degree of success in business, however equating that success, which is largely the result of exploiting specific regulatory and policy rules and loopholes in certain states, most of which came into existence through the careful and controlled manipulation of elected officials many times at the expense of the population at large, with leading a nation of over 300,000,000 seems somewhat naive and misplaced. A nation is not a business. A society is not a corporation. Governing is not business. Its purpose is not to create profits, but to maintain, build and protect a strong nation, safe from threats both external and internal. One might argue with the growth formula applied to economics as a valid gauge against with to judge economic health, or social well being (The Lonely Crowd addresses this issue quite thoroughly), but even if not dismissing continuous growth as a parameter in assessing the health of a nation, there is little correlation between producing a product for market (though in Trump’s case the product has very limited broad social benefit) and creating a better life for hundreds of millions diverse individuals. And this reasoning is not new. It was tried in the mid 20th Century in Italy, and in spite of the best efforts of those individuals, many of whom were far more qualified than Trump to govern, it failed.
I’ve been following Trump for some time now, and I can’t agree with you more on this one Jordan…it’s time to get down to business…time for a change that will make a real difference…a real blow to the system. And what better person to do that than Trump. Call me crazy but I’ll be the first to cast my vote for him.
Agreed. Well said.
I was elected to two consecutive terms as the President of my State Association for the Promotional Products Association of Georgia. It was a volunteer position for which I was not paid a salary and required my time/energy/attention to the extent I was willing to give it.
We wiped out a small-but-nagging budget deficit and put a few new programs in place to keep the Association running smoothly. At the end of the second year I stepped down as President and resumed my full-time work selling promotional products. I had a new appreciation for what it took to run a business and the ins & outs of networking. I wholeheartedly agree that political service to the Country should mirror my experience. Get in, do the best you can, and then make way for the next soul.
I am with you! We need real change. We are the GREATEST country in the world. People risk their lives trying to escape to our country. I am so tired of hearing Americans say that other countries are better. Please by all means go if you really feel that way. This great country has so much to offer. Freedom is priceless and our Founding Fathers would be sick to hear what’s happening here. We are not equal and need to stop trying to dumb everything down. People that work hard are rewarded. People that feed off our social systems are making this country what it is right now. (A real mess) Welfare is not a job and government housing should not be for criminals. Come on people. Think about it. It used to be embarrassing to be on welfare. I grew up in a family with little money. Who didn’t 40 years ago? Welfare was not an option. Hard work and less spending and creativity to make ends meet was what we did. Churches were there to help those that really needed it and people didn’t take advantage of good people it seemed. Homeless on the corner? Wow our Vietnam vets get less help then the criminals in jail. They at least have a place to sleep and a meal every day. It is high time to get back to family values. Parents be parents be there for each and every child you give birth to. Step up to the plate and if you need parenting advice get it. Stop allowing the system to raise you child and take responsibility for the problems they have. It is ultimately you that make the difference in their lives. You are the reason for your Childs success or failure. Think about it or if you don’t this nightmare continues.
If we’re ever to rise up, shake the dust off, and become the #1 country in the world to open new businesses (more jobs), then we need a major change and new thinking.
New words are not enough, and our previous dominance won’t be enough to pay for our current entitlements.
JZ, personally I’d like to see you run. I’ll chair your campaign up here in the Midwest.
It’s time for a change.

Our country is obviously crying out for help…its amazing how the entire last election was based around the concept of change (for the worse?) Trump may have the ability to actually change the path we are currently on. His overwhelming business knowledge and straight-fowardness will definitely be positive assets in the election. I believe our country is looking for a political figure that will be able to communicate to them on a real level…we are over the superficial political non-sense. This will be not only a critical election, but very interesting. It will be exciting to follow the coming events…keep posting!
